Acoustic project for offices
We present the acoustic project we carried out in 2018 for the new offices of Chili S.p.a., a leading European company in the world of entertainment based in Milan.
The guidelines of the interior design have been marked keeping in mind the functional needs of the company, first of all starting from the definition of the layout of the various areas: open space, coworking, meeting area and break area. Special emphasis was placed on acoustic treatment in order to ensure the best conditions of use for sharing, sociability and creativity.
In order to aesthetically characterize the environments, different acoustic solutions have been adopted and integrated with each other, which have made it possible to achieve considerable acoustic comfort, starting from the assumption that each material, based on its molecular and dimensional characteristics (thickness and quantity), works on some frequency ranges, while it is almost ineffective on others.
We therefore reached the best compromise between design and technical requirements by integrating different products: the BuzziSkin covering on the vertical surfaces, BuzziFree by BuzziSpace acoustic dividers between one work area and another and finally the Lunar round sound-absorbing panels by Acoustic Lab suspended from ceiling.
The acoustic project in this open space office was completed by lining the back of the cupboards with BuzziSkin, an acoustic covering in 6 mm thick recycled polyester felt. On the other hand, the BuzziFree self-supporting acoustic dividers have been positioned between the operational area and the more informal and creative areas, improving visual and acoustic comfort thanks to their internal structure, acoustic foam padding covered with BuzziFelt and a powder-coated metal base.
The acoustic intervention clearly also concerned the informal and meeting areas: to increase the level of privacy and improve speech intelligibility during conference calls, it was decided to cover the walls with BuzziSkin design coverings by BuzziSpace, which, in addition to guaranteeing the correct acoustic comfort, have made the rooms more welcoming and dynamic.
The break area was conceived both as an area for exchanging work information and for sharing a playful moment, in an environment that is acoustically controlled by the presence of round colored Lunar sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling.
The final effect is a fresh yet strongly defined workspace, which perfectly reflects Chili’s identity and the youth of employees.
